Welcome To My First Post!

Hey! Welcome to the very first post of my blog. As stated in the ‘About Me’ section at the bottom of this site, I decided to come up with this after seeing the vast amount of misinformation on the topic of trading today. If you have dabbled in equity trading at some point of your life (especially in the current macro-environment today), you would probably have found yourself in a few of these situations:

  1. ‘Buying the dip’ (also known as averaging down), but the dip keeps on dipping.
  2. Taking a trade that does not go in your favor, so you then become an involuntary investor because in the ‘long run’ the stock will eventually recover.
  3. Diversification is your best friend, doing so will make sure you lose less because your ‘risk’ is spread across different stocks (or asset classes).

These are some of the common mistakes that everyone faces when they start trading and definitely mistakes that I have made in the past too. As someone with roughly 4 years of trading experience, I was fortunate enough to have experienced the crazy stock market boom of 2020 – 2021, where at one point of time I achieved a 70% return on my account over a short period of two months, and the current tough environment today as of this writing. My main motivation for this blog is to hopefully share what I have learnt throughout this journey to shorten your learning curve if you decide to give trading a try.

Over time as I continue to update this blog, I plan on categorizing my posts into 3 parts:

  • Trading Education – In these posts, I aim to debunk the different trading myths, such as the ones stated above, cover the basics of technical analysis, and fundamental analysis of equities that are important for swing traders.

  • Market Commentary – In this category of posts, there will be a free daily commentary that covers the market action of the general indices and the risk pertaining to the current market environment.
If you are interested to learn more on a closer basis, for a small monthly fee you get to see a more detailed analysis of the markets, access to my watchlists, and post-trade analysis  (This will come at a later date, coming soon!).

  • Book Commentary/Summaries – Similar to a literature review done in university, this section covers the important concepts found in the most popular books on the topic of swing trading. With this category of posts I hope to open your eyes on trading strategies that made these authors millions of dollars so that you can apply them to your own trading journey. Reinventing the wheel is difficult, so you might as well stand on the shoulder of giants.
If you have made it this far in my lengthy blog post, I really appreciate you. Stay tuned for more to come!
